John Exell
at the Voices Forum website
I was born of very working class parents, did extremely well in the 11+, but experimented with drugs in my teens, I was 18 in the magic hippy summer of ’67, and ended up in Mental Hospital, diagnosed with Schizophrenia. In my late 20’s, I returned to college to study Architecture, my childhood ambition, gaining an Honours degree and post-graduate diploma. Worked in Architecture until the recession of the early 90’s, was a job seeker until I cracked up again, and was put on sickness benefit, where I am now, July 2006, at the age of 57.
I have been described as a highly talented genius by others. I always reply, I wish I was talented and a genius at life. I am a member of Mensa, am multi talented, maths, geometry, physics, writing, art, sculpture. Am left handed and an Aquarian, with a Libran moon sign, and believe it or not, sometimes I can be very practical. I am also a trainee mystic. That’s all for now......
